Uptick (UPT)
I released Uptick on March 19, 2023. It is my UPT showcase app to replace Continuous Time, which is no longer on the App Store.
The app showcases my idea of Uniform Place-value Time, a system for time of day that I've finally settled on a name for. The gist is treating time like any other place-value number rather than the strange conglomerate of metrics widely used which is a mixed radix numeral system. Practically applied, this can be expressed as 1 day = 100,000 ticks, 1 tick = 0.864 seconds.
People might recognize this as Decimal Time, but Decimal Time is only 1 possible expression of UPT. UPT can be used to express time of day in an infinite number of ways. If you can find a way to express a number with a radix of 1729, you can use 1729 as your basis for timekeeping (which I don't recommend). I'm not aware of an idea like UPT existing already, so I guess I invented it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Uptick is simpler, more elegant, and less cluttered than Continuous Time. Uptick is built on SwiftUI instead of UIKit, and I'm really happy to have made that and other changes. This app is now easier and more fun to work with!
Please enjoy Uptick and try out different expressions of time! Here's the link: Uptick
If you don't have iOS, just download these files here and open the html file.
Some other stuff
On the App Store, Uptick is called "Uptick (UPT)" because the name "Uptick" was already taken and I'm already super attached to it.
Of course, since the app is a clock, no personal data is collected or stored by Uptick (UPT).
